Sacraments of the Church
Parents wishing their children to be baptized should contact the pastor of the parish to make arrangements. Baptisms are regularly celebrated during one of the weekend Masses.
Youths wishing to receive First Penance and First Holy Communion are to be enrolled in the Parish Religious Education Program. Parents may register their children in the REP by contacting Dennis Olson, Coordinator, at 634-3033.
The Sacrament of Penance is celebrated each Saturday from 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. A penance service is celebrated during the Advent and Lenten Seasons, seasons traditionally known as penitential seasons in the Church.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated with youths in grade 10. They are to attend religious education classes faithfully and are required to perform a designated number of hours of community service. Often, the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in neighboring parishes with youths from those parishes.
The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated at Saint Mary Church on a date agreed upon by the couple and the pastor. Contact with the pastor must be made no less than six months before the desired wedding date. Preparations besides a measure of paperwork include a pre-marital inventory, a seminar, and preparation of the liturgy of marriage.
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is celebrated with those whose health is impaired by illness or age. While the sacrament is often administered individually, there is also an opportunity for celebrating the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during a Sunday Mass from time to time and for residents of health care centers during the monthly Mass.
