Special Announcements:
Today is Pentecost Sunday; we with the Church throughout the world we celebrate the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit to the Church to act a teacher, counselor, advocate and helper. Next Sunday we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity; and on the following Sunday we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus. It is a season of celebrating!
Today is also Mother’s Day. Our congratulations to all mothers of the parish. After all the Masses today, women of the parish will be selling Roses for $2.00 apiece. Proceeds will be sent to “Wisconsin Right to Life.” Please consider buying a beautiful red rose – and foster the protection of unborn children. Thank you.
The Marian Banquet went extremely well last Wednesday evening. Food and laughter alike were plentiful. Good spirits prevailed. Thanks to everyone who made the event such a great success.
THE READING MOTHER
I had a Mother who read to me
Sagas of pirates, who scoured the sea,
Cutlasses clenched in their yellow teeth,
“Blackbirds” stowed in the hold beneath…
You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be –
I had a mother who read to me.

WEDDING BANNS: Derek Andrew Waddell and Mindy Mae Berendes are to be joined in marriage 31 May 2008 at St. Mary Parish.
As spring finally arrives in our beautiful state so does the "wanderlust" of Saint Mary's Travel Club. The first adventure of 2008 will be to southwest Wisconsin to marvel at the creativity of two of Wisconsin's greatest architects. A visit to the marvelous "House on the Rock" perched on a 60 foot chimney of rock will literally take your breath away! Glimpses of "Taliesin" and a stop at the Frank Lloyd Wright gift shop and book store will offer opportunities for learning more about the area's most well-known architect. Plans call for an 8 AM departure and 5-6 PM return on Friday, May 23rd - approximate cost, including admission fees, lunch and transportation will be approximately $25 per person. Further details and registration forms will follow in the weeks to come. Please circle the date on your calendar!
Last fall we put out a call to the parish for a volunteer to shovel our walks on the church property. Joseph Kearney stepped forward and took on the job. What a winter! I’ve waited to thank him until I felt reasonably sure the snow season was over! One never knows in Wisconsin. Still, Joe, the parish is very grateful to you. Thank you for your dedicated service!
A low income family in the area is in need of several used bicycles for their children. If anyone cares to donate a used bike, please contact Father Cook. Thank you.
This week we highlight Quality Ford - Mercury as the bulletin sponsor of the week.
