The Parish PCCW is again sponsoring “Christmas In July”. This very successful project invites parishioners to assist children who come from families that are financially stressed with school supplies. A Christmas tree will be in the Atrium next weekend. Everyone is invited to select an “ornament” from the tree identifying a particular supply. Please purchase and deliver all supplies to the baskets near the tree by mid-August. The supplies will be distributed to children in Kickapoo, La Farge, Viola, Viroqua and Westby schools. Thanks to everyone who helps with the Christmas in July project!
Registration for St. Mary's Vacation Summer School will be taken after Masses this weekend and on the rest of the weekends of July. Registration will be in the Atrium after all Masses. Vacation Summer School will be for age 4 to Grade 4; youth going into 5th grade this fall are still considered grade 4 for Vacation Summer School. School will be Sunday - Wednesday evenings August 1,2,3,4 from 6:00 -8:30 pm.
Again this year our parish is pleased to host BloodCenter of Wisconsin for a Blood Drive. The Blood Drive will be on Monday, 9 August, from 1:30 – 6:30 p.m. in Marian Hall. Please consider donating blood for the benefit of so many people who are in need of it. To schedule your appointment sign up in the Atrium after Masses on weekends: 31 July/1 August and/or 7/8 August. Or, call Paula between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 637-7711. Thank you.
The Fortney hotel Meals are to be served by Saint Mary Parish next Sunday, 1 August. It is the turn of those who worship at the 10:30 Sunday Mass to prepare the meals this month. Please consider taking a container home with you after Mass this weekend; or sign up for bringing desserts or loaves of bread and butter. This program is so deeply appreciated by the residents of the Fortney Hotel who live below the poverty level. Items are to be brought to the church kitchen before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 1. Thank you.

Repair has recently been done to the kneelers in our church. One of the reasons it was necessary is because worshippers occasionally rest their feet on the kneelers when they are in the upright position. This places a great deal of strain on the screws that hold the kneelers to the ends of the pews. Please refrain from using the kneelers as a footrest. Thank you!
The Zarephath Club (for widows and widowers) is planning to journey to La Crosse, Wednesday, July 28 for a Concert In The Park. It will be held at Riverside Park. We will leave from Church lower parking lot at 6PM. If you would like to go, contact Marlene at 629-5137 or just show up at the parking lot by 6 pm. Arrangements can be made to pick up participants in Westby also.
The Vernon County Historical Society will hold a cemetery walk in St. Charles Cemetery, Genoa, WI, on 8 August 2010 at 4 pm sharp. Descendants of some of the old families will tell some of the history of 8 people and of Father Kremer who did so much for Genoa. Refreshments will be served. If it rains the speeches will be given in St. Charles School. Donations are $5.
